PRESS RELEASE Contact: Steve Adams - (718)296-6551New York City to Honor PFC. Dan Bullock, USMC Youngest U.S. Soldier Killed in Action in Vietnam with a Street Renaming Ceremony. BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, May 14, 2003: The PFC Dan Bullock Foundation and NYC Council member David Yassky cordial invite members of the media to attend the Street renaming ceremony in honor of PFC. Dan Bullock, USMC on Saturday June 7, 2003.. PFC Dan Bullock is the youngest U.S. serviceman killed in action in the Vietnam War. At the time of his death Dan Bullock was only fifteen years old. Dan was killed on June 7, 1969, at An Hoa Combat Base, Quang Nam Province, Republic of Vietnam. Dan Bullock was born on December 21, 1953 in Goldsboro, North Carolina. At the age of eleven, Dan's father moved his family from Goldboro, NC to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They lived at 279 Lee Avenue. There Dan would dream of becoming a U.S. Marine, a Pilot or a Police Officer. Dan would fulfill one of those dreams. Dan was a rifleman assigned to the Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines. "At the time of his death, Dan having realized that an attack by the North Vietnamese Army, was much stronger then usual and that the ammunition supply was becoming depleted, Dan rushed to get more ammunition, not once but twice and it was during his return the second time that he was hit numerous time and killed instantly". This is a historic event because it is the first time that a fifteen year old African American, United States Marine will have a street named after him. The Street renaming ceremony will take place on Saturday June 7, 2003 on Lee Avenue at the corner of Flushing Avenue and Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 am.
