Pvt Eugene W. Lee U.S.M.C. celebrated his 104th birthday March 24 2003.Life member of the Syracuse Detachment Marine Corps League. He was born1899 in Liverpool ,New York. Enlisted in the Corps April 27th at the age of 18.Boot camp training in the Philadelphia Navy Yard and was sent to France where he served with the 51st Co 2nd Bn 5th Marines.He was assigned to the 2nd Army Division as a member of the 4th Marine Brigade and wounded in the battle of Belleau Woods.He was awarded the Purple Heart,and the Silver star for gallantry I thought it was interesting that it came out in this months paper ,a week after we dedicated a street to our youngest brother KIA Dan Bullock 15 years old.
