FAQs on VA Home Loans
Why get a VA loan over other types? Simply put, a VA home loan allows qualified buyers the opportunity to purchase a home with no down payment. If you've used a VA home loan before, you can have previously-used entitlement "restored" one time only in order to purchase another home with a VA loan if the borrower has paid off the prior loan but still owns the property, and wants to use his entitlement to purchase a second home. Obtaining a Joint VA Loan?
A husband and wife in search of a home loan through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs should have no problem if one of the spouses is a veteran or other eligible party. But what if a veteran and non-veteran join together for the purpose of obtaining a VA loan? The VA or VA approved lender could still grant a loan, but depending on several factors, it could require greater qualifications. (http://valoan.military.com/854/veteran- ... Congress May Split on TRICARE Fee Hikes
The House armed services subcommittee on military personnel has declined to give the Obama administration new authority it sought to phase in (http://www.military.com/benefits/conten ... anges.html) higher TRICARE fees on military retirees over the next four years and to peg future TRICARE fee hikes to medical inflation nationwide. However the House did not include language that would block the Department of Defense from using existing authority to raise co-payments on prescription. Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), ranking Republican on the armed services' subcommittee on military personnel, told Military Update's Tom Philpott, "Between now and the end of the fiscal year, I hope we can convince the House to accept some adjustments in premiums for TRICARE, because it's just unsustainable right now." These payments can range up to $2,673 a month for 100 percent disability. There is no need for proof of actual exposure to Agent Orange or other poisons. Triple Bonus for VA Eligible Borrowers
Three bonuses for VA loan borrowers make for one sweet home-buying opportunity: 1) Reduced Home Prices 2) Historically Low Interest Rates 3) Zero Money Down. According to the S&P indices, today's home prices are what they were in early 2003. It's hard to predict when prices will go up. But, the housing price graph that's been on a down slope since 2006 may be bottoming out. (http://www.military.com/money/partner/h ... ESRC=vr.nl) Get the full story on Military.com.
