WASHINGTON (NNS) -- Headlines Ashore and Afloat for the week ending Oct. 20, 2006:

- The position of Commandant of the Marine Corps changed hands.
- The Marine Corps is working on a new tactical vest.
- Cpl. Jason Dunham received the first Medal of Honor for a Marine in Iraq.
- Members of Doolittle’s Raiders recognized their Navy comrades.

- The National Museum of the Marine Corps opened its doors.
- Semper Fidelis Park was part of the Marine Corps Museum’s opening celebrations.
- USS Boxer’s (LHD 4) Fleet Surgical Team 5 performs surgeries underway.
- Sailors aboard USS Shreveport (LPD 12) conduct visit, board, search and seizure training.
